Creatures of the Day
This past few days, I was basically sleeping and slacking more than studying.
I think the most infuriating thing happened on Friday morning, when my bloody Civics Tutor (CT) asked me to go further up in the line to get ready for assembly. That day happened to have Maths Faculty Test and we were all discussing the different formulas and questions. When this irritating voice and face and shadow appeared in front of us and told us to queue up. It was damn sickening - the way he called us, though I feel it was directed at me, mostly. "Girl, girl... line up in front." Call me "Girl"? Two years of being my CT and don't even know my name or the names of the three other people sitting with me. Something's wrong with him!! As usual, I packed my stuff slowly to delay a bit here and there and suddenly one of my friends asked a math question and I went to explain to her. Of course now, I haven't moved further up. Which explains why that bloody, sickening creature of a CT came behind me and used him dirty, flithy, sickening, ugly pen to poke at my scalp and said "Girl, go and line up now." I was damn pissed off! Bloody hell, who does he think he is to touch my hand with his dirty, flithy, sickening, ugly pen!! I couldn't control myself and said TWO words that I'm not very proud off. Been abstaining from using this word for the past year and this is the first time I used it so publicly. Damn. Threw my bag in front and I didn't even look at him when he gave tutorials the lesson next. I think he knows I bui song him, and even asked me to answer the question. But I beat him to it and answered them correctly. Think I never do tutorial? Think again and think harder. It's him that's always wasting the class' time. Using one period to answer one question, smile at himself, laugh at his own not-funny jokes and talk crap about himself that nobody is interested to know. When people want to know something, he ask us to read up ourselves. Like that, go to school for what? So angry that day, that I went home to complete his other tutorials, kinda transferred my anger into energy to do physics. Not bad, huh? Every morning, see his face also got nightmare. Lesson time - even worse, daydream also have nightmare. Don't know why he hasn't retired or been sacked.
So much for all this angst. Really cannot control. That night, I blabbed all about his dirty deeds to my sister who listened with intent. Even helped me to scold, criticize and curse him. Thanks, sis! And she's so nice to go visit the Star Wars exhibition with me on Saturday... plus, she's paying for the tickets! Yippee!! Last week of exhibition in Singapore, and we could finally make it after it's run of about 5 months.
Tuesday PE was 2.4km run again. Been really slowing down a lot. Plus, the standards have been raised to make the girls' run more in sync with the guys' and so, the timings are all 30 seconds faster. 30 seconds is so much!! Can make or break your grades, man. Then, I seriously hope that our class's 4x400m won't qualify. Pretty evil, right? I only wish for it if I need not run and they can find a better runner. I seriously don't wish to faint in school.
Been missing out on movies for more than a month, so I have roughly made up my mind on what to watch: -
- V for Vendetta
- Three Times
- Tristan & Isolde
Currently, there's only three because there hasn't been much nice movies out. All lot of them are released during the mid-year. Plus, I may not watch all of them, but I'm confirmed on watching V for Vendetta.
Also, I've signed up for the flag day for the Singapore Cancer Society, together with SKY. So happened to be handsome guy's birthday. Wonder how is he now....?
That's all, and I hope you guys are not offended about reading the second paragraph... not feeling very apologetic but if he smiles to me and my mom at the next parents-teachers session - again, I hope I can control myself from knocking his teeth out.Labels: movies, school

Spinning... in circles
Man, the Service Learning on Tuesday was fun, Fun, FUN!! Stayed there for three and a half hours, singing karaoke to the elderly, singing with them, vacuuming the area and cleaning up. Well, the singing part was one of the most embarrassing, apparently, the songs that they have were like 1960's - early 1980's, which was so not-our-era. Struggled with one or two that we know, and Shi Zhen and I did a 'duet' with a Teresa Teng number. Not bad, huh?
Went on to vacuum the area. It was really tiring as the vacuum cleaner wasn't sucking very well, meaning you had to put it there for about 5 seconds before the dirt got sucked up. Took some photos of us cleaning up too. And the thing is, you can hear this static-like sound when something is sucked up, and I could hear a dead cockroach being sucked up the long, long tube into the vacuum. Eeew. Later, went on to sing more again and helped to clean the 10+ fans in the Centre. Super tiring, especially when they start bringing out the standing fans and other hidden fans. I think the event of the day was when someone fell off the ladder. Oops. Shall not mention that person's name, but it was really slippery there, I guess.
Went home so tired, that I didn't even read my storybook at all. =(
Wednesday was a little better. Skipped photography yesterday as I was really too beat to stay on for any extra lessons. But before I left school, I went to explore the new Audi. Seriously, there wasn't much difference. Only the backstage rooms were extended and the mirrors replaced. And it costs a reportedly half a million? My goodness.
Had to study for my Econs which was really a big headache. So many topics to cover, so little time. Last-minute-me strikes again. And the worst thing was, while I was entering my room last night, I stepped on something. I didn't even realize it until my sister told me. Apparently, I was too lazy to switch on the lights and I stepped on a part of a cockroach. As a result, part of it was smashed and squashed on the floor, and it overturned - struggling and its feelers going up and down, up and down...
I was completely disgusted!! Shocked!! My hours of econs-studying just went down the brain drain. I checked my shoe, and part of its juice was there. Lucky thing was, I was wearing my shoes. Phew. I couldn't concentrate for the next half an hour. And when I slept, I quickly rushed to my bed when I switched off the lights for fear of stepping on anything brown.
Sleeping at 2AM, I wasn't exactly in the best of form this morning. Yet, the class had to have 4 representatives for the 4x400m run. The 3 best girls runners were up there. And I ended up being the lucky one being chosen. It was the freaking worse thing I did in my life. The starting, probably from 100-200m, it was okay but after that, my arms and legs turned into goo. Really couldn't feel anything. At 300m, I was half dead, with my arms and legs not feeling anything, yet trying their best to move one small step at a time. My mind was giddy and I really felt like stopping. When I was reaching the finishing line, I passed the baton to the next runner and I think I nearly collasped on the grass. My mind was in a whirl, everything was in fog and my legs were not with me anymore. Took a very long rest on the concrete. Really felt like crying because the feeling of pain was so huge and my mind was like spinning and I thought I was going to faint. I only fully recovered after the Econs test, which was horrible. This, I'm bound to fail. I'm so sorry that I have to let Mr. Larry Lim down, who actually gave me extra lessons yet I'm not putting enough effort. And my mother, who's been staying through the night with me on and off, when I studied late into the night. I even lied that the test papers were not returned because I was too afraid of showing her my horrigible marks. I must now push myself to work harder from now on, and of course, not to make too many empty promises to the people around me and most importantly, MYSELF.
Stayed back in school to watch an 'exclusive' screening of the movie Crash, which I would rate 4 out of 5 stars. No wonder it got the Best Movie Oscar this year. The movie is basically made up of many short stories that are interlinked into one. It revolves around racism, prejudice and discrimination, hope and a small bit of it on prostitution. It seems that all these are all around us yet they are not made known because of loopholes here and there. You can really empathize with the characters, and I'm glad I had Shi Zhen for company from 3.30-6pm there today. Waited for the teacher to come at 4pm, and there were only 6 people watching it. Really hope there's another one coming soon.
Well, I guess I have to go and study for my Math Faculty test now. Till then...Labels: movies

Your Pride & My Prejudice ?
Hmm... after so long, I have decided to change my blog music. Just in case you people didn't know, I read like a few months ago that putting music on blogs is illegal. Oops. However, now instead of putting like 8 songs, I'm only putting up 1. Makes a difference, right? By the way, this piece is Cosy In The Rocket by Psapp. Love the song, which also happens to be the theme song for TV show Grey's Anatomy. Very indie.
Went to my mom's office yesterday. Thought of going there to finish up my homework but of course, I went to become the unofficial office girl by helping my mother zap and shred stuff. I think I can do it a little faster than those people working in my school's photocopy shop. Queued for like 20 minutes to collect some 20 pieces of paper, of which 18 minutes of it, the queue was not even moving at all! So many photocopying machines, but they all keep breaking down. I wonder what's the use of changing the photocopy shop's operator.
Saw part of Gangs of New York on Saturday, of which I was attracted to for its extensive of violence. Lots of blood, chopping and slashing. Yup, I love violence.
Went to Mac's for lunch after school today with Yin Chieh and Shi Zhen. I think that's one of our few lunch outings out? Really enjoyed it and laughed our hearts out with "vrooooomm", snoring, eating, jokes and other stuff. Saw this Maybelline exhibition at TM's atrium. Very quiet.
Now, I'm reading Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice, the book which I so unfemininely snatched at Pasir Ris library on Saturday. Well, it's a rather new book and though I'm halfway through it, I love it!
Cheers! Tomorrow's our Service Learning - again! Gonna sing karaoke and play mahjong with the elderly!! Yippee!!Labels: books, movies

Boo-Blue
Yesterday, Blogger gave me a shock when I couldn't load my blog. Messages like 'You're not authorized to view this page' and 'Website not found' made me suspect that maybe my blog was hacked? Then, I saw this annoucement that they were fixing some problem. What a scare!
Went for my dental appointment today and chose this rather pleasant blue-coloured bands. However, it ended up being mixed with another shade of blue, so my mouth's now like VERY BLUE. Yucks.
Went to look at watches, clothes and basically shop at Orchard. Chanced upon this HMV Spring Sale. Saw loads of VCDs/DVDs up for grabs at very cheap prices (well, compared to their starting price). So, in the end, after careful selection, I only picked 2 VCDs priced at $7.95 each. Cheap right? And they are rather new movies. Ah... Patience reaps rewards...
Then, went on to buy this very colourful topcoat, gummies and those Little i mints, which I happen to chance upon. Went home after that, and slept like a log!
School's opening soon, and my econs homework are not done yet. Praying for a miracle Sunday.Labels: blog-related, thoughts

My Inner Power...
Empathy- Your inner power is Empathy!
This means that you have a talent for identifying others emotions, often by simply glancing at them. You are EXTREMELY shy and quiet. People sometimes don't notice you're around and seem surprised to find out you even exist in a big class. You're the often silent, goody two shoes, and few get passed the walls you've built up to stop yourself being hurt, as you no doubt have been in the past. Not everyone understands you, in fact some think that you're a snob or worse because you rarely participate in group activities.
You're extremely sensitive, even the least harsh of words can hurt you. Only your very few, closest friends who have earned your hard-to-get trust know who you really are inside; a sweet, gentle young woman who is lonely and so desperately needing friends to support you. You can get very depressed and not always know why, despite your power of empathy, as it seems to only work for people outside you. Your friends always turn to you when they need advice or comforting, and in some way you need to give that help; it makes you feel better in return to know that you've helped out your friends.
Despite your cold, impassive exterior and high, seemingly unbreachable walls, inside you are really a great, intelligent person, full of compassion and love, if only people would dare take a chance and try to get through your tough shell.
Never let others get you down, or change you. You are very special the way you are even if you dont have fifty thousand friends, you are just as, if not more extraordinary than everyone else. Reach for the stars, because I don't doubt you'll catch hold of them. Boy/Girl who will sweep you off your feet: A sweet, shy and romantic man/woman. The kind of guy/woman you know will never, ever hurt you, and will love you for ever. The kind of person who believes in true love, and soul mates. Your stone: Blue Topaz Your power: Healing. Emotionally, physically, or spiritually, you heal people with your words, your actions and presence. Youre the one that the little children are always drawn to, because they know you'll never let anything hurt them. Your element: Clairvoyance (The power to see objects or events that cannot be perceived by the normal five senses.) A quote that applies to you: "True beauty shines from the soul and warms the world with its kindness, compassion, and integrity." What's your inner power? Labels: quizzes, quotes

Tourism Academy at Sentosa
Well, went to Sentosa's Tourism Academy on Tuesday. Quite an eventful trip, I must say.
First of all, I must start with the bus. It was a shock to see the exact same bus that ferried us for out Learning Journey. See the difference!! Of course we (Shi Zhen, Yan Bing and I) rushed for the yellow bus, with comfy seats, nice aircon and beautiful exterior to boot.

Reached there in less than an hour and we were given this talk in this room, which looked like a meeting room to me. Turns out it's their classroom-cum-lecture theatre! The best part was the refreshments! We all had three servings each of the yummy cream tarts and fish fillet balls, which I think were made by the students themselves!

Went on to explore the campus and one of the lecturers actually broke out in laughter when we asked him to send his powerpoint slides to us. No choice, need to do some report and in the end, there was no deal, just lots of laughter. The place was really nice, look more like a resort than school, in fact. And, there were peafowls around!

And their toilets were really nice-smelling and clean! Take a look!

So nice that we decided to take a picture...

And a short while later, we left the place. Most of the time, we're just travelling from school and back, didn't stay there for long. Well, the time in the bus back home was well-spent...

... cos after that, we slept all the way back.
Here are some more pictures...
Look at the collection of wine! So refined, eh?
This is the King Crab. The legs are so long and meaty, man...
Now, I look and sound like a country bumpkin. Whatever. Labels: school

Spot the Spot - Part II
Spot the Spot - Part II Originally uploaded by KJ.eio.
Hmm... was feeling bored yesterday so I went to do a little touch-up on this poor soft drink cup. My apologies.
Well, yesterday was one of my most frustrated days. I re-did my Econs essay twice because I found it didn't make sense - again. Then I was too bushed to do anything else. Didn't go any of the varsities' open houses at all, in the end, after all those hype. Well, I guess I needed to do more about my present than my future.
But I can relax tomorrow when SKY goes to Tourism Academy, Sentosa~! First time there and I look forward to it, though not so much to the writeup I have to do after that. Well, who likes to do work?
Meanwhile, it's the first day of the March holidays and I hope - I really hope - I spend it well.
Bye~!!

Super Panda Eyes
Been really lazy, I guess, or maybe busy. These past week I was busy doing Econs essays. A total of 1+3-pages, 5-pages and 2-pages essay were waiting to be completed by Friday. But alas, I didn't complete the one with 5 pages. I wrote halfway at 0130 early this morning and I realized I didn't understand what I was writing and so I just copied the introduction onto another piece of foolscap and went to sleep. 4 nights (and counting...) doing Econs essays - hell!
Almost the whole class went for Service Learning at Metta Daycare on Tuesday. It's quite fun, really. I learnt a little more of basic Malay, like counting and some of the other words like pretty, clever and some linking words. Shall not spell them out as I'm not really sure how to. Hee. The girls went to teach the women how to count. It was the right choice because firstly, the room was air-conditioned (that day damn hot!!) and it was a rather relaxing job. There was this Indian who could count very well, compared to the others present. Impressive! After about one hour, we went over to do some exercises, all while sitting down. Haha. And, there was this 'pass the ball' game which was damn fun and panicky at the same time. We saw our classmates dance with the elderly, sing for them, even writing their names with their butts (Kelvin and Meng Wee)!! Damn hilarious. I bet if they'd done it in school, it would have resulted in some cat calls. We did some cleanup and left the place. We're going again in about another 2 weeks, this time for karaoke and mahjong. I love these elderly, man.
Oh, and the Learning Journey last Friday was very educational indeed. Went to the Eurasian Association, located at Tanjong Katong and opposite the President's house! We learnt more about the destruction during WWII, from the Eurasian's perspective. And the artefacts were damn interesting, with some that is only 'one-in-the-world' and some that were specially flown in for the event. Free admission too.
Yesterday's the last volleyball practice for SPE. Wonder what we're in for next term. I kinda miss volleyball now, now that I have learnt to play better. Maybe will have future opportunities to play?
And today's the last day of school! Yippee!! But of course, this made like three quarters of our class to skip math lecture, which was after recess. Only 5 people from our class turned up and of course, our tutor was furious. Told us to pass them the message that they need to write a letter to her to explain their absence. The scary thing is, not even 10 minutes later, she was in the canteen and next, she was like scolding some of my classmates that were still in school. *sigh*
There's this photography outing to the Botanical Gardens tomorrow morning. Crazy, call me wake up early to take picture of plants? Of course, my first reaction was "NOT FREE!" Although I must admire their courage to organize such an activity. Because 9.5 out of 10 times, the outings/meetings/gatherings or anything they plan normally fizzle out at the last minute. Maybe the first outing for each intake is an exception. After all, my first outing with the club resulted the entire group to change buses 3 times to get to SAFRA Mount Faber. Hopefully, the JC1s don't get lost in the Gardens...
Well, I think I kept you reading for about 5 minutes? That's all I have to say today... ta-taa.Labels: school

My Ancient Bloodline?
You have Gnome blood.
The Gnomes are wise and don't like to get involved in things that are none of their concern. They do not get involved in things with lots of people such as parties or group gatherings. This is because they are often shy or timid, although sometimes it's just the fact they don't like people very much. You likely don't have very much of gnome blood in you, since the gnomes and humans rarely breed together. But the bit you have makes you unique and unlikely to follow the crowds and collect stupid fads or fall to peer pressure. What ancient bloodline do you have?Labels: quizzes

Hectic
Was kinda busy this past week, which explains the almost-stagnant blog.
Let's see... for the past few weeks, SKYY have been trying to figure out who's the "rat shit" (a direct chinese translation) that's been attracting unwanted attention during lessons. Well, it often ends up in hilarious results.
I think I forgot to mention previously that I went to watch The Constant Gardener, a socio-political film that I think is very GP-related and it has had quite an impact on me for those few days after. I'll give it 4 out of 5 stars.
Volleyball for PE is getting fun, although sometimes the teacher's comments are really funny and sarcastic at the same time. Though I'm not a very good player, but I think I'm better now. However, I don't think I'll be playing the game under the hot sun after school or during breaks because I enjoy being the spectator more. =D
Speaking of the hot sun, yesterday's sun was extremely scorching. I was perspiring from tracking Orange Bag down together with Yin Chieh. In fact, I think we're quite close to the paparazzi as we literally tailed him from hall to office and to hall again. And, we skipped photography after that. Not our fault, those guys were so free, talking about going to the opposite blocks to eat noodles (specifically, mee pok) and there we were waiting like idiots. It's just so bad I had to initiate the whole-sneaking-out-of-the-room thing. And of course, the AO Level MTL results were out yesterday. Got an OKAY grade, I think and I don't think I should publicise it here. Not that glorious. And the A Level results seem scary (?), I saw so many people crying and taking re-admission forms. *shivers*
Today's Physics test was another horror. I only studied 2.5 out of 5 topics tested. Which is a big no-no. I ended up flipping to the last page to start the paper. The rest of it was like fill-in-the-blanks-with-non-facts and just basically bullshitting my way through the whole paper. Everytime I face this, I tell myself to buck up BUT it is not working. So I think I better not deceive myself any longer. I need the mood to study!! But the mood is never around... Whatever...
There's still GP War and Terrorism powerpoint to be done and Learning Journey tomorrow! I need time!! Arghh...
Anyway, I think tomorrow will be the results of the JAE posting, and hope those affected by it gets whatever they want!
P.S. Just wanna share this tidbit with you guys... If you've been watching lots of TV like me, you'll find out that Channel 5 has lots of Oscar-worthy movies showing throughout the month of March, below are some that are showing on Saturdays, 10.30pm...
4 March - The Road to Perdition (stars Tom Hanks, Jude Law...) 11 March - The Pianist (stars Adrian Brody...) 18 March - The Gangs of New York (stars Leonardo Dicaprio, Cameron Diaz...) 25 March - The Hours (stars Nicole Kidman...)
I should be watching all of the shows, maybe except one or two, unless my mom switches off my TV! =PLabels: friends, movies
