Terrific!!
Where shall I start...
Well, TPJC Runway was simply fantabulous! Wonderful costumes. Creative designers. Beautiful models. Lovely catwalks. I think I totally underestimated it in some way or another. Well, I'm glad I went for it as I saw Izzulwan's design and lots of 4e2-ers, like Joel, Chun Yan, Tuty and Hafizah. I think one of the most hilarious parts was when one of the teacher's models turned up modelling his teacher's wardrobe. And he calls this post-modern? Think Yin Chieh and I laughed till our teeth almost dropped out when he came out in his floral shirt and pointy shoes. Joke of the night!!! But of course, the male model redeemed himself in the pyjamas section, where he coyly showed his 6 packs. I bet some girls were having nose bleeds or hyper-ventilating (I know one that was...).
Yesterday was even more fun. Supposed to meet Joy, Johnathan and Kian Yan at 1100hrs at Bedok, but only Joy turned up at 1045hrs. Chatted for about an hour over early lunch and the two guys came. Apparently, KY was late because he spent a rather long time folding his sleeves. Went on to the library (Children's section) to take pictures of ourselves. Even went to Giant to be house-wivey and eventually met Edwin there. I think he was the one that changed the most out of the three guys - dyed hair, earring... But if he looks good, why not? Proceeded to this karaoke in Kampong Chai Chee CC where it's cheap to sing!! Well, for one thing I've noticed that Kian Yan can sing real good falsetto!! Join the choir!! And Johnathan and him make a great singing duo, well both Edwin and Joy took videos of their wonderful singing session. Really enjoyed my time there, until my mom called to rush me back. Arghh... didn't get to take neoprints and have dinner with them.. I guess there's a next time?
Well, hope to meet them again soon but with so many things on hand, I think the next time may be quite a long time away. Have Sports Meet, Dragonboat training, Sea Sports Heats, NAPFA test, Mid-years...
Till next time....Labels: friends

Is there Hope?
It's been awhile!!
Anyway, Saturday's TPJC Carnival was considered a flop in a sense. Only a few people came, even though the school said like there were over 1600 people who came. We, on the other hand, believed that 1400 of them were school staff, and the rest were mostly helpers and really, just a few outsiders. I hope they really enjoyed their time and didn't make a wasted trip. I guess this Carnival thing was catered to TPJCians, especially, since we were the ones visiting our booths. Some of the booths that I visited, I came out feeling a bit cheated. But never mind, all this is done in good sport.
Well, as for our booth - THE TOUGHEST WINS - drew a little crowd as we were giving ice sticks and jellies!! Yummy!! Spent $20 on that, and it's all paid by the school and the stingy creature!! The whole class was enjoying our ice sticks as the crowd wasn't as large as we expected it to be. Well, as I have told Shi Zhen a little while before we closed up the booth "I'm so tired... of sucking ice!".
I think the worst thing of that day was when the idiotic creature said he wanted to replace the benches with concrete slabs just because a little boy fell down. Not to be offensive, it's okay for young children to fall down once in a while, if not, they are gonna cry harder when they do when they get older. And, that little boy isn't exactly material for not falling down. He almost trip over a pole while walking. Oops. No offence. Anyway, we, the girls, were super frustrated with that creature and all decided to leave him to do his nonsense but Shi Zhen wouldn't go. Had to hear some creature nag about "don't be a general" crap even before the booth officially started. For goodness' sake, the concrete slabs were cracking in the middle and the pole actually touched the ground when weight was applied on it. It wasn't supposed to. I guess class unity emerged victorious against the old, stubborn creature.
Enough about that.
Went for Singapore Cancer Society's Flag Day on Sunday, and I must say it didn't go as successful as I had seen it. Many people, mostly Caucasians, avoided us like the plague. THAT wasn't the worst thing. Some of them just walked past me even though I greeted them and all. I bet if I wasn't solid, they would have walked right through me!! So infuriating!! Ended the day at 1300hrs and had lunch at Plaza Singapura. Had to study for Physics SPA the next day, so had to hurry home. Anyway, Physics SPA was almost suicidal. Though my classmates had somehow predicted the question, still, it's an individual effort and I think I screwed it somehow.
Rushed to Cathay Orchard to catch The Art of Seduction yesterday. Real funny movie, and I think I give it 3.5 out of 5 stars. It's like this battle of the sexes kinda thing, an Asian version of How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days... It's especially funny to see them use those tried-and-tested tricks against the Seductress and Seducer. Now I think S Korean movies are not bad.
Went for Photography today, and sorta got a warning for being absent 'twice in a row' for attendance. Gotta 'show more enthusiasm'. Well, I try to. Got booked for duty on Sports Day next Friday and guess what? Yin Chieh and I are going to be the lucky TWO to roam round the school with our camera!! Those people hiding in the toilets - Beware!!
Quite free this week, but it's not for long. Mid-years in about a month's time and there are still many tests to go. I'm so looking forward to the end of the week. That's because of the TPJC Runway on Friday and I'm meeting Joy, Johnathan, Edwin and Kian Yan on Saturday. Yuppies!!Labels: movies, school

Heat
Had a extremely busy week. Got a fever of 39 degrees on Monday, and I got an MC for Tuesday. First time taking a pink form as I was leaving school halfway through lessons. Luckily, the VP(Admin) was very nice, and he told me to rest more and drink lots of water.
Back to school on Wednesday, and realized I've been missing much more on extra-curricular stuff than on studies. Apparently, lots of hoo-ha happened because of the carnival booth thing. Managed to catch up on the latest news and was kinda shocked at some parts. Lessons went on as usual and I skipped photography yesterday - again. I know it's real bad of me, but I just recovered and it was raining!! How can there be an outing?
Had to mug throughout the night studying for Econs test today. It's kinda irritating, when the school lets you off early to prepare for your carnival booths and a teacher's lecture period gets cut into half... he gives you a test instead. How smart of the teacher. Anyway, I think I'm gonna do quite badly, since I was having a bad headache. Don't know why but it just occurred out of nowhere.
The most interesting thing happened during Physics. SKYY was picking our lecturers, as usual, and we decided on Mr. Soo in LT4, whose initials so happened to be SKY, and sat through his revision of SPA Skill A. Halfway through it, a monster came in and took the front seat...
*screams* Liew the monster aka our Civics Tutor (unfortunately)!!! Our faces went from shock to disgust to being resigned to our fate. Even Yin Chieh, who was dozing off, woke up out of fright! Her facial emotions were just hard to miss. We were deciding if we should (A) remain in the LT and study Econs or (B) leave the LT!! When Mr. Soo ended his lecture on SPA Skills, we were thinking "it's now or never!!"...
And so, we left!! We literally scurried out of the LT and laughed so loud that the people sitting outside the LT were staring at us! So embarrassed!! Next, we decided on whether we should go back into LT3. However, the teacher might notice us and say we're late for one period of lecture!! What should we do?? But we still sneaked in in the end and took the corner seats. The four of us were laughing like crazy and of course, lots of people noticed us... except the lecturer! Phew!!
The rest of the day was spent doing those banners for the Carnival and we did it for almost 4 hours. So tiring. Next, we went to NTUC to buy ice sticks and jellies for the carnival. SKY was crazy already, most likely due to hunger. We took a trolley, put all our bags in it and zooom past all the different aisles of the supermarket in search of ice sticks.
Hopefully all our efforts are worthwhile.
Saturday, here we come!!!Labels: friends, school

Dashes
Woah, it's been mighty long since I last blogged. As mentioned earlier, V for Vendetta is really a super-good movie, go catch if you can - though I think the timings are running out or have ran out.
Anyway, had a rather average week. For class PE on Tuesday, did those crazy 400m sprints in order to train for 2.4km run. That was freaking bad since my stamina was so lousy. Math was worse. For this whole week, we were rushing assignments for statistics. Couldn't bring the questions home and had to "complete within the timeframe". Was basically pulling my hair out at times. After PE on Tuesday, my second button came out after I changed. Panicked! Luckily, Yan Bing's ingenious idea of using the school badge worked, or else I might risk exposing myself to the whole school. Phew.
Had this Dialogue session on Wednesday, which gave us the techno-centric perspective of security in Singapore. Really didn't understand much, except that they have wonderful flying birds and manificent flying balls. Those who attended would know what I'm talking about. Went for photography later but ended up watching the softball match between TPJC and VJC. Our school won!! 9 - 2!! Wonderful! Saw one of my schoolmates did a homerun. Fantastic.
Got back PW results today and got a Band 2. I don't know whether I should be happy or not, after all it's a Band 2. But I thought all of us deserved much better. Some classes were luckier and got Band 1s, our class didn't. In fact, TPJC.net even had a forum topic dedicated to this topic, saying that our school teachers were too strict. What to do, it's OVER!! Stayed back for some stupid Physics remedial, which revolved around the teacher and a few students at the front. Most of them were seated at the back, while a large majority of them didn't attend it at all. Simply wonderful. Went to TM after school to buy stuff from Popular with SKY as well as get materials for TPJC Carnival coming next Saturday.
Well, Daffodil Day is coming the following Sunday, and well, SKY is going too. It's for the Singapore Cancer Society and I'm on the morning shift!! The next day would be Physics SPA Skill A, and I guess I've got the afternoon to study.
Upcoming events include: 22 April 2006 TPJC Carnival 23 April 2006 Daffodil Day - Flag Day 28 April 2006 TPJC Runway
Hopefully, I'm fit enough to attend all of them, not that I've got any choice. =P
Bye!Labels: movies, school

Do What You Feel Is The Right Thing
Wow.
V for Vendetta is really breathtaking and empowering. Fell in love with the show and the characters. Engaged the audience into believing that though man with ideas die, his ideas do not die along with him. As in the case of Guy Fawkes and V. V is really so good with his knives and swords, bloody was splashing out of his victims. Revenge is really sweet in this case, for greed and power has made him a victim of tests against human rights. Yet he managed to move the entire totalitarian-Britain, made them all wear his masks, wig, cape and hat. The civilians' participation could be said to have been in full force, with the entire crowd gathering minutes before the Parliament, waiting for V's promise to blow up the Parliament House. Alas, evil does not triumph and the good man do not last. V dies and leaves his legacy behind.
Natalie Portman's acting is convincing and so real, I could feel her very emotions. I could feel her pain when she was tortured, her fears, her love and her heart. Hugo Weaving as V is charismatic - it's like the mask could speak without words.
4 and 1/2 out of 5 stars.
To V the Vigilante.Labels: movies

The Shining
Had a very occupied weekend. As I've mentioned earlier, my sister treated me to the Star Wars exhibition on Saturday. Left home at 1000hrs and reached home at about 1900hrs. One ticket was worth $18 bucks and we spent about 7 hours in there. Well, to make our (or rather, her) money's worth.
Lovely exhibits, beautiful costumes, gorgeous sketches and nice clips. I'm so awed!! There was a 'live' character photo-taking and there I was, foolishly waiting for Hayden Christensen to come out... *sigh* He didn't appear...
But otherwise, I think it was a very fruitful trip. Got those medallion collectibles and even posters, postcards and loads of brochures. Went to eat KFC at Jurong Entertainment Centre and went home after that. Met some idiotic people who couldn't keep their eyes to themselves when I dropped my phone. Made some rude remarks and they kept staring. Stare stare stare... as if it's their problem.
Woke up at 0430hrs yesterday morning to pay my respects to my grandmother at the Choa Chu Kang graveyard. It was so early and it was completely dark. But mostly, I was too sleepy to notice anything. The most irritating would be that someone (shall not mention who) kept shining those huge torchlights at my eyes. It's so dark and the light was piercing!! The worst thing came when I was about to cross this cemented path across the drain, it's bad enough to be in so dark a surrounding and the torchlight kept coming into my eyes! How to cross the path!! Arghh... still had to wait for my uncle who reached at 0830hrs. Never mind, he's an elderly. Shall keep my comments to myself. Left for lunch later and came back home extremely tired!! Still had homework to complete.
Today was a little better although there was GP comprehension assessment, return of the horrible Econs MCQ. Left for Bedok after that and managed to redeem my SilkyGirl mascara free!! So happy!!
Well, I've got to go do my homework and revision now (Physics Faculty Test on Thursday)... so I guess, till then...
By the way, I think I've got to share this very nice quote I heard on Channel 8 last week on The Shining Star: -
Happiness is giving it up, not holding on to it.
How true. How true.Labels: quotes
